With busy lives and hectic schedules, we sometimes forget to stop and admire the beauty of this city we call home. Dilwalon ki Dilli has a lot of gorgeous panoramic views for our eyes to feast on. All we need to do is to look for the right spot and maybe the perfect companion to revel in the beauty of the capital city. Right! So, check out these amazing spots in town from where you can catch some breathtaking views!
1. Signature Bridge
The newest addition to the list of places that offer gorgeous scenic views of the city is the Signature Bridge. It is a modern variation of the cable-stayed bridge connecting Wazirabad to East Delhi and is double the height of the Qutab Minar. You can go right up to the top of the bridge in one of the four elevators, the viewing box. The viewing box is a 154-metre high selfie point for visitors with a capacity of carrying 50 people at a time. However, you will have to be a little patient. The signature bridge is under construction at the moment and will reopen in June 2019 with an observation deck for a gorgeous bird’s eye view of the city!
2. Tughlaqabad Fort
Built by Ghiyas-ud-din, the founder of the Tughlaq dynasty, in 1321, the Tughlaqabad Fort is now in ruins. However, for those you who are into history and heritage, this is the perfect spot for you. When you walk across the main bridge in the fort, you will be greeted with an extensive view of the ruins of the Tughlaqabad Fort! You can also admire the architecture, the wild plants and the tomb of Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq. The entry to the fort is just Rs. 15 and it is open on all 7 days of the week from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
3. Parikrama
If you’ve lived in Delhi long enough, we are sure you would have heard of this first of its kind revolving restaurant in the city. Located at the topmost floor of the Antariksh Bhavan, Parikrama is at the height of about 73 metres. The restaurant revolves slowly to give you a 360-degree view of Connaught Place along with other famous landmarks of old Delhi such as the Jama Masjid and the Red Fort. If you’re looking for a reason to fall in love with this city all over again, we suggest you go on a dinner date to this restaurant!

4. Khari Baoli
Khari Baoli is the largest spice market in Asia, but that’s not all there is to it. If you take the right turn at the Fathepuri Masjid and the first left walk ahead and ask for directions to go up on the Khari Baoli terrace, you will be surprised with a majestic view of Old Delhi. You’ll have a direct line of sight to the other end of Chandni Chowk till the red fort and the Fatehpuri Mosque looking exquisite in all its glory. While the way up to the terrace is not very obvious and is, in fact, easy to miss, it happens to be a popular spot for international Instagrammers who come to Delhi!
5. The Leela Palace, Delhi
We suggest you check in to The Leela Palace New Delhi for a staycation ASAP! Not only is it one of Delhi’s finest luxury hotels, but it also boasts of a rooftop infinity pool with a beaut panoramic view of the city. The Qutab Minar, Lotus Temple and the Rashtrapati Bhavan are all visible from the terrace. Can you image, chilling in the pool with such an excellent view of the city? Tempted much?
6. Hauz Khas Fort
Recently added to the list off ticketed monuments in the city due to its high popularity, the Hauz Khas Fort was established by Alauddin Khilji in 1284. With a fee of Rs. 15 for Indians and Rs. 200 for foreign nationals, Hauz Khas Fort, is a perfectly picturesque spot in the city. The beautiful view of the lake and the aesthetic ruins of the fort itself is what makes this a remarkable spot. This is a great spot in the city to enjoy the sunset. Also, fun fact, a lot of Bollywood movies have been shot here, our favourite one being Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar! (Remember the drinking scene post junglee jawani)
7. Raisina Hill
For all the opacarophiles (lover of sunsets), another spot where you can watch the sunset in the city is Raisana Hill. This is an area of Lutyen’s Delhi, housing India’s most important Government buildings such as the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the official residence of the President of India etc. The Hill is an elevated area, which if you climb will give you a clear picture of the Rajpath with the India Gate towards the end. Delhi in all its glory, this spot is bound to give you the Rang De Basanti feels!
8. Thai High
Thigh High is located at the Ambawatta complex in Mehrauli. And it is not just one of the most popular Thigh restaurants in Delhi; it’s also got one of the most magnificent views. You can get to witness an unobstructed view of the iconic Qutab Minar and the beautiful surrounding neighbourhood of Mehrauli here. The view from Thigh High will leave you in awe of the Qutab Minar that we end up underestimating a lot of the times.
