Stationery is something we all need in our life. And if you are a hoarder like us, then we’re sure that pretty notepads, diaries and pens can be quite a weakness! But what if you can indulge in cutesy stationery and contribute to saving the environment at the same time? We recently found this amazing stationery store, BioQ, that uses organic substances to make their products. Not only that, they have wood-free and plantable pencils too! Scroll on to know more about this eco-friendly brand.

How Does It Work For The Environment?

BioQ have upped their game when it comes to the stationery collection! Ensuring minimum harm to the environment, BioQ people use organic and eco-friendly products like bamboo and recycled paper to make their stationery.

To know more about the brand, we got in touch with Saurabh Mehta, the CEO and founder of BioQ.
He said, “I’m a sustainability enthusiast, and joined my family business of disposable ball pens manufacturing. In less than a year, I couldn’t see myself being a part of the massive environmental damage that was being caused by writing instruments. October 2018, BioQ was born as a separate entity, that focused solely on innovative eco-friendly stationery products”.

They have eco-friendly pens and pencils that have seeds attached at the end with the help of a capsule. Once the pencil is too short for use, instead of throwing it away, you can use it in a pot with manure and soil to plant it! BioQ have also launched India’s first wood-free pencil made with recycled paper and pen with less than 10% plastic.

Products To Pick

BioQ’s products are an attempt to reduce deforestation and plastic waste. Apart from pencils and pens, they have notepads, colouring pencils and more. Talking about the products, Mehta said, “Recycled paper-based pens and pencils are our most popular products wherein we eliminate the use of plastic or wood. Besides, we add seeds at the back of our pen/pencils, allowing the user to plant the pen/pencil after using it fully. Overall trying to make the transition from ‘Use & Throw’ to ‘Use & Grow’.

We also asked him about why there’s need for such products, to which he said, “Given the current environmental scenario, eco-friendly products will soon to cease to be an option. Every day in India we make over 4 crore disposable plastic ball pens and wooden pencils, contributing to environmental pollution and deforestation”.
