People like Marco Polo, Christopher Columbus, Vasco Da Gama, Amerigo Vespucci and in more recent times Neil Armstrong and Edmund Hilary have cemented their names in history for eternity as a result of their achievements and discoveries. In the second decade of the 21 century with seven billion people spread across each and every corner of the globe, it is perhaps next to impossible to discover any new place on earth. So what do people who are explorers and travelers at heart do to live their dream, specially during their youth and middle age years?

The release of Apple's new star iPhone turned into a festive and chaotic event in Asian markets . Thousands of fans waiting for hours in front of stores, celebrities counting down the time until the day the highly coveted smartphone was released, made the introduction of iPhone 4S into one big celebration. The fact that every version of the iPhone gets a response like this year after year, surely makes even the best minds in the business wonder as to how Apple manages to do it so consistently. It’s funny every now and then I still get asked that question from someone who is brand new to the practice. “Is it exercise?”, “Is it spiritual?”, “Is it difficult?” “Do I just lie there and relax?” ”Do I have to be a pretzel?” are some of the phrases I might hear from a beginner or outsider. I can define it in a very simple way by saying “yoga means to unite or join”. In the practice we are uniting our mind and our body through our breath. There are so many different forms and styles of yoga and some classical forms of yoga don’t involve any asana or postures but at the base of each one of them is the sense of union. We practice to bring our mind, body and soul together to achieve a state of balance and inner peace.

Those of us who are native English speakers often feel proud of the fact that we can speak one of the most widely spoken languages in the world and that it will come to our rescue, no matter where in the world we are. Unfortunately, that is not always the case specially in continental Europe. Not only do many people not speak English in Europe, they positively look at the language with disdain. The good news is that Europeans also instantly warm-up if they see a visitor make an effort with their language. So before leaving on that European adventure, invest in learning a few stock phrases in the local language of the country. It will make life much easier for you and help you get the most out of your trip.
