Here Are The Coolest Bollywood Movies Coming Out in The Rest of The Year to Keep You Hooked!

We are already halfway through 2019 (can you believe it?) and we’ve seen quite a few Bollywood movies this year. Some hits, some misses. (Mostly misses, tbh!) But with the second half of the year still left, we know we have a lot more in store. Some we’re desperately looking forward to, some, not so much. So here’s a list of 17 upcoming Bollywood films that we are eagerly waiting for! After all, 2019 abhi baaki hai mere dost!

1. Judgementall Hai Kya

A thriller comedy, Judgementall Hai Kya stars the feisty Kangana Ranaut and one of the finest actors of B-Town, Rajkumar Rao. Produced and directed by Ekta Kapoor and Prakash Kovelamudi respectively, in this film, we’ll see Kangna and Rajkumar play two edgy characters who are either plotting against each other or a common third party. Judging by the trailer, we think this film’s going to take us on one hell of a ride!

2. Section 375

Section 375 of the Indian Penal Code is about the Anti-Rape Law in India. This movie, a social drama and thriller, directed by Ajay Bahl, will focus on the misuse of section 375. The film will star Richa Chadha and Akshaye Khanna in the lead roles. With a strong premise and talented actors, we know we have a great show in store for us!

3. Jabariya Jodi

The last time we saw Parineeti Chopra and Siddharth Malhotra together on screen was in the super flop Hasee toh Phasee. But since we have a soft corner for both these actors, we do have some hopes from their second outing together. Jabariya Jodi is a romantic comedy revolving around the tradition of groom kidnapping which is prevalent in Bihar. The intriguing plot is what’s got us looking forward to this one!

4. Batla House

We feel like John Abraham has kind of gotten used to playing the patriotic hero, which is exactly what he’s playing in his upcoming film Batla House. The film also stars Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan and Nora Fatehi. This action-thriller is based on the 2008 Batla House encounter case. If you know anything about what happened on September 19, 2008, in the Batla House locality in Jamia Nagar, Delhi, you’d know why we are looking forward to this one. But in case you have no idea, then this one is certainly a must-watch for you!

5. Mission Mangal

Mission Mangal is going to highlight the story of the ISRO scientists that contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission, which marked India’s first interplanetary expedition. The film will be a one-of-a-kind cinematic venture starring 12 of Bollywood’s finest actors, including Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Vidya Balan, Sharman Joshi and more. Definitely, one to look forward to!

6. Made In China

We absolutely adore Rajkumar Rao so we’re ecstatic about seeing him not once but twice in the next few months! Made in China is a comedy that will follow the journey of a Gujarati businessman who goes to China looking for better business prospects. The funny events that follow his move to China will leave you in splits! Directed by Mikhil Musale, a National Award winner for the Gujarati drama-thriller Wrong Side Raju, this film will also star Mouni Roy, Amyra Dastur and Boman Irani and we absolutely cannot wait for it!

7. Chhichhore

A romantic comedy starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Sharma, Prateik Babbar and more, this one’s going to be a treat for the rom-com fanatics. Chhichhore will follow the lives of a group of seven friends from 1992 to the present. The friends reportedly meet in an engineering college and manage to stay friends for the better part of the lives. In the mood to reminisce your college days? Make sure to catch this one!

8. Laal Kaptaan

All the Saif Ali Khan fans, hands up! In this one, you’re going to see the handsome Nawab in a completely new avatar. Laal Kaptaan will feature Saif in the role of a Naga Sadhu. Yes! Written and directed by Navdeep Singh of the NH10 fame, the film is touted to be a revenge drama, and Saif plays one-half of two warring brothers. Sounds exciting!

9. Dream Girl

If there’s one actor really pushing the envelope, it’s Ayushmann Khurana. From Andhadhun to Badhai Ho to Article 15 more recently, this powerhouse of a performer has delivered hits after hits and we expect no less from this one! Dream Girl is a film about a small town boy who develops the ability to speak like a girl. With Nushrat Barucha (the salmon pink, gold rose pink girl from PKP) starring opposite him in the lead role, Dream Girl is one of the most anticipated films of this year!

10. Jhund

Starring Big B a.k.a Amitabh Bachhan, Jhund is a film based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of Slum Soccer. Slum Soccer is an organisation which uses football as a medium to bring together kids from underprivileged backgrounds. Directed by Nagraj Manjule the man behind the original, Marathi version of Dhadhak , you can expect some serious cinema from this film!

11. The Zoya Factor

This one’s long awaited. Ever since Sonam Kapoor’s permed hair debuted on Instagram, there’s been a buzz around this film. The Zoya Factor stars fashionista of Bollywood along with Dulquer Salman (the guy from Karwaan) and is based on the best selling novel by Anuja Chauhan. The film just like the book follows life of Zoya Solanki, an executive at an advertising agency who ends up becoming a lucky charm for the Indian Cricket team during the 2010 Cricket World Cup. The perfect rom-com to watch with bae or your girlfriends!

12. The Sky is Pink

Now, this is one film we know we are truly looking forward to. PC’s first outing ever since her wedding and a come back of sorts to Bollywood, this one will star the diva alongside Zaira Wasim (the Dangal girl) and Farhan Akhtar. The biographical film is based on the life of Aisha Chaudhary, who was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis at a very early age. Showing the struggle of her and her mother, Aditi Chaudhary. Priyanka will essay the role of Aditi Chaudhary and Zaira Wasim will play the role of Aisha.

13. Saand Ki Aankh

Saw those pictures of Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pedneker looking in their 70’s? Nah, that’s not the FaceApp, that’s actually the look for their upcoming film Saand Ki Aankh. Produced by Anurag Kashyap, Saand Ki Aankh is a biopic drama based on the lives of Chandro Tomar aka Shooter Dadi and Prakashi Tomar aka Revolver Dadi.  Who’s excited to see Taapsee and Bhumi play the roles of the oldest female sharpshooters in India? Because we know we are!

14. Bhoot: Part One – The Haunted Ship!

Bhoot: Part One – The Haunted Ship! is going to be the first film in a franchise of horror films under the title ‘Bhoot’ by Dharma Productions. Starring none other than B-town’s newest heartthrob and our latest crush, Vicky Kaushal! The film will also feature a cameo from Bhumi Pedneker. Who’s ready to witness Vicky Kaushal in a scary avatar? Not like he hasn’t given us many sleepless nights already. Right, ladies (and men)?

15. Bala

Another one starring Ayushmann Khurana. And this time he’s back with his two-time on-screen wife Bhumi Pedneker! In this one, we will see Khurana essay the titular role of Bala, a young man dealing with premature balding. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the mn who gave us Street, the quirky film will also feature Yami Gautam and Javed Jaffrey, so one thing’s for sure – the film won’t lack humour. And guess who’s going to have yet another good run at the movies? Ayushman Khurana!

16. Dil Bechara

We’ve been waiting for this one for a long time! The Hindi adaptation of The Fault in our Stars, Dil Bechara, was earlier titled Kizie and Manny. The film will feature Sushant Singh Rajput and debutant Sanjana Sanghi (remember Heer’s sister in Rockstar?) in the lead roles. It will also mark the directorial debut of Mukesh Chhabra, a casting director who’s cast several actors for movies, including, Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur.

17. Good News

There’s a piece of good news for you guys! The film Good News is good news. Okay so coming to the point, the film Good News will bring Bebo and Mr Khiladi a.k.a Akshay Kumar back on screen 10 years after the disaster that was Kambakkht Ishq along with Kiara Advani and Diljeet Dosanjh. Sounds like an interesting ensemble, doesn’t it? The film’s plot will revolve around surrogacy and marriage and is touted to be a rom-com. With that star cast, we are surely expecting this one to be good news for the box office!
