What is Giant’s Causeway Coastal Route?

It’s an area on the northern Irish coast, in County Antrim, which is made up of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns! It is believed that around 50-60 thousand years ago, County Antrim was subject to intense volcanic activity. So, when the thick lava cooled down, it resulted in these hexagon-shaped rocks. In fact, due to this shape, it seems like they are man-made, but they are not! It’s all a natural wonder! The tallest stones are about 12 meters (39 ft) high, and the solidified lava in the cliffs is 28 meters (92 ft) thick in places.
Legend Behind The Giant’s Causeway
According to a popular legend in Ireland, once Finn McCool, a giant, who lived in Northern Ireland built the causeway to cross over to Scotland so he could fight a Scottish giant. And when he arrived in Scotland, he realized that the Scottish giant is a bit far bigger and fiercer than he could ever imagine, and he ran back across the causeway to his house!
