1. Rangbaaz – Zee5
Rangbaaz is a crime thriller series with Saqib Saleem in the lead role as Shiv Prakash Shukla a feared gangster of Uttar Pradesh in the 90s. The show, also starring Ahana Kumra and Tigmanshu Dhulia revolves around Shiv Prakash Shukla who accidentally kills a man and then there is no looking back. It shows the human side of the dreaded gangster engaging in the world of crime and murder. It is an intense and hard-hitting account of one of the most wanted criminals of India and is a must-watch.
2. The Test Case – Alt Balaji
The Test Case, starring Nimrat Kaur, tells the story of the first woman to join the Indian Army’s Special Forces Unit. Nimrat, as Captain Shikha Sharma, has to go through a significant struggle to make her presence felt in an all-male group of soldiers. Starting with sexist jokes, men ogling at her during showers, putting up with toxic masculinity and a sexual assault, her character has to deal with a ton of problems. This show highlights the struggle of women in a male-dominated workplace.
3. Yeh Meri Family – Netflix
Yeh Meri Family is a light-hearted web series that you can watch with your entire family. Starring Akash Khurana as Papa, Mona Singh (remember the dorky looking Jassi from Jassi jaisi koi nahi?) as Mummy, Vishesh Bansal as Harshu, the central character and the storyteller. Set in the summer of ’98, the story is told from the perspective of Harshu, the 12-year-old boy in the family. He talks about his family and the various ups and downs they face in their day-to-day lives. Yeh Meri Family takes you on a significant nostalgic trip of the ’90s and is an excellent way to unwind with the family after a long and tiring day!
4. The Final Call – Zee5
Have you ever, while boarding a plane, thought that this could be the last flight of your life? Ha! Scary thought, right? Well, that’s what The Final Call, starring Arjun Rampal is about. Captain Karan Sachdeva (Rampal) is a retired Air Force officer turned commercial pilot who is in an inner turmoil and possibly suffering from PTSD. He decides to end his life mid-air in the flight Skyline 502 from Mumbai to Sydney. The flight is also carrying 300 passengers on board who have no idea that their lives are in danger. The Final Call is a thriller, full of unexpected twists and turns so fasten your seat belt for an entertaining ride.
5. Broken but Beautiful – Alt Balaji
Get over the usual stories of pain and heartbreak, Broken but Beautiful is a story about the love that heals. Starring Vikrant Massey and Harleen Sethi, this show revolves around two heartbroken people. Veer (Massey) whose wife died in a car accident three years ago and Samira, whose boyfriend of 5 years, left her abruptly and without an explanation. Their shared pain brings them together, and they learn to heal together. It’s a sweet love story that will make you smile and even shed a tear or two. Binge-worthy, isn’t it?
6. Babbar ka Tabbar – Zee5
Starring Manu Rishi, Ayesha Raza, Bhavin Bhanushali, Avneet Kaur (from all those tik tok videos) and Anshuman Jha, Babbar ka Tabbar is a show that revolves around the struggle of the Babbars to bridge the generation gap with their millennial kids. Funny and cute, Babbar ka Tabbar is a light-hearted entertainer with loads of desi tadka. This show is perfect for an entertaining binge-watching spree with your entire family. Call it a fam jam, shall we?
7. Breathe – Amazon Prime Video
Breathe is a crime drama that follows the lives of two ordinary men who are faced with extraordinary circumstances. The show stars R. Madhavan and Amit Sadh. The show follows a cat and mouse chase between the two leads Danny Mascarenhas (Madhvan) and Kabir Sawant (Sadh). Danny, trying to save his son Josh who doesn’t have very long to live and Kabir (Sadh) trying to put the pieces together of murders that seem unconnected. This is a gripping thriller which will have you hooked right from the word go and is perfect for an afternoon/evening of binge-watching.
