It’s getting kinda cold outside and we are super excited because the season to layer is here! Layering is one major winter trend that never gets old. It’s the best possible way to look chic and cute in the cold weather even when you’re bundled up from head to toe! Also, you can easily make your summer staples winter-appropriate if you just layer them right! So, we got in touch with Delhi-based fashion blogger Srishti Bhatia, also popularly known by her Instagram handle – stylefashionetc, to give us some tips on how to layer winter basics and statement pieces like a pro this winter!
1. Fur Vest Jacket
A fur vest is definitely a statement piece in your winter wardrobe. It looks the best with slim-fit denims or bodycon skirts. Since the jacket packs a lot of volumes, I keep the lowers sleek to balance the look and layer the jacket over a high neck to keep me warm.
2. Thin Cardigan
I love my cardigans long and thin because they can make even a simple denim and T-shirt outfit look fabulous. You can also layer a regular cardigan with a shift dress, it works amazing!
3. Cardigan Vest
A great way to layer a cardigan vest is by wearing it under a fitted long coat. It adds some character to your look and makes sure it doesn’t compromise on hand movements.
4. Cropped Sweater/Jackets

Both cropped sweaters and jackets work best with high waist denims! I would layer a cropped sweater over a bralette for Fall and under a long coat for the colder days. It works great under a pantsuit as well!
5. Long Front Open Cardigan
These are my favourite to layer! Layered over a simple crop top and high waist denim, it looks fab but for colder days, cinch the waist using a belt bag and throw on a thick scarf to ward off the cold.
6. Leather jacket
A Leather jacket looks very smart with just denim and crop top. But give the look a twist and wear maybe a super long top to turn some heads! It also pairs really well with bodycon dresses.
7. Denim jacket
The casual vibe of a denim jacket goes really well with high waist denim. Pair it with crop tops, shirts or even a sweatshirt inside! Denim jackets are very versatile can make even your summer dresses apt for fall.
8. Trench Coat

A trench coat is a great classic piece to have in your closet. You can pretty much layer it over anything. I like to wear mine over a sweater dress and high knee boots for a chic look.
9. Double Breasted Blazer
These are super chic pieces and can be styled in so many ways. Go for the classic closed look if you are not the one to experiment but if are, layer it over a patterned sweater and throw on a belt to add definition to the waist. I would add a Beret too for that Parisian chic look.
