2. Hachi: A Dog’s Tale
Plenty of drama and a sad ending, here’s another one that’s going to require 1 maybe 2 boxes of tissues, so gear up! Ronnie, a kid, tells a story about Hachiko, a dog that belonged to his grandfather Professor Park Wilson. Even when his master dies, the loyal pooch keeps a watch for more than a decade at the very train station where he once greeted his owner every day. Starring Richard Gere this film about loyalty and love is enough to make a grown man cry!
3. Bolt
Breaking the pattern of the sad ones, here is an animated dog movie which is worth watching, no matter your age. So gather your entire fam or all the little ones around and watch Bolt, a film about a movie star dog who thinks he has superpowers in real life. Super cute, fun and funny this cute movie will give you that much-needed break you need from reality! Go on, grab that bowl of popcorn!
4. A Dog’s Purpose
A Dog’s Purpose is a touching movie, based on a book by W. Bruce Cameron. This film starring Dennis Quaid and the Riverdale hottie KJ Apa will take you on the journey of a feral Beagle/German Shepherd/Terrier mix puppy named Toby and his reincarnation to show everyone what his true purpose in life is. This beautiful film through its furry protagonist will teach you that life is about not about getting caught in the past or regrets, rather, its about having fun, saving others, finding someone to be with and living for today! Also, this movie is followed by a sequel!
5. A Dog’s Journey
The sequel to a Dog’s Purpose, this film is just as good as it’s a prequel or maybe even better! In this one, the beloved dog Bailey (who was earlier Toby) finds his new destiny and forms a strong bond that will lead him, and the people he loves, to places they never imagined. This movie will induce a ton of emotions, make you laugh, cry and help you understand the meaning of a dog and human friendship even better! Truly heartwarming, this is among the best dog movies we have watched!
6. A Dog’s Way Home
A sweet, simple family film – A Dog’s Way Home is about a puppy, Bella, who finds herself in the arms of Lucas, a young man who gives her a good home. However, she is separated from Lucas, which leads to a 400-mile journey to reunite with her owner. Along the way, Bella touches the lives of many, including an orphaned mountain lion, an unlucky veteran and some friendly strangers. While it’s not essentially a sad movie, but the ending is going to get the tears flowing. so keep those tissues handy!
7. Isle of Dogs
Another animated film on the list, this one is set in the fictional Japanese city Megasaki. After the outbreak of canine flu, the mayor of Megasaki orders all the dogs to be quarantined on an island. A young boy comes to the Isle in search of his dog with the help of a few exiled mongrels. This movie is witty, clever, smart and heartfelt and the animation will get you captivated for sure! With eye-catching scenes and an interesting plot that turns out to be super emotional, while being deeply entertaining at the same time! Also, since it’s set in Japan, you will require the subtitles for a couple of scenes.
8. Dog Days
How can we not feature a romantic comedy involving dogs in this list? Dog Days starring Eva Longoria, Nina Dobrev and Vanessa Hudgens this movie showcases a bunch of dog owners whose lives end up interwinding thanks to their pups. A feel-good movie, it showcases the story of different people and their connection with their dogs in a perfect way!
