2019 was surely the year of web series but 2020 definitely has some great Bollywood movies in store for us. From biopics, dramas and psychological thrillers to slapstick comedies, romcoms and more, there’s a lot to look forward to no matter your choice of genre! So here’s a list of movies coming out this year that we are eagerly looking forward to!
1. Chhapak
This highly-anticipated film inspired by true events starring Deepika Padukone as an acid attack survivor is all set to release soon. Based on the life of Laxmi Aggarwal, the trailer of this film alone was enough to give us goosebumps!

2. Tanhaji
Tanhaji, starring Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Saif Ali Khan is a film based on the life of Tanhaji Malusare, an unsung Maratha warrior from the 17th Century. If you’re a fan of historical period dramas, this one’s a must-watch for you!

3. Street Dancer 3D
Our own version of the Step Up series, Street Dancer is a coming of age story based on the lives of street dancers in India. Starring Varun Dhawan, Shradhha Kapoor and Prabhu Deva, you’ve got to watch out for some great dance movies in this one!

4. Panga
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Kangna Ranaut in a truly inspiring role so we’ve got our hopes high for this one! Panga is based on the life of a national level Kabaddi player from India following her triumphs, struggles, overcoming stereotypes and reflecting on the importance of love and family.

5. Jawaani Jaaneman
Starring Saif Ali Khan, Tabu and marking the debut of Alaia Furniturewala, Jawaani Jaaneman is an upcoming film revolving around the life of a 40-year-old dad and his daughter. While not much else is known about this film but the posters recently came out and it sure looks pretty interesting!

6. Malang
A romantic thriller starring Disha Patani, Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor and Kunal Khemu in lead roles, Malang is one of those films we are eagerly looking forward to. Judging by the pictures doing rounds on social media, we are sure to see some great chemistry between Disha and Aditya and we just can’t wait!

7. Love Aaj Kal 2
Now here’s a highly anticipated film that we are super excited about. Ever since Sara Ali Khan opened up about her crush on Kartik Aaryan on Koffee With Karan, there have been rumours about the two of them dating. Whether they’re together or not, we don’t know, but we are sure we’re going to love them as an onscreen couple in the sequel to one of our favourite films!

8. Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship
One look at the poster and we knew this one’s going to be worth the wait! Starring Vicky Kaushal, Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship is a thrilling mystery that we just can’t wait to watch! Luckily we won’t have to wait too long since it’s coming out early next year!

9. Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl
Janhvi Kapoor made quite an impressive debut with Dhadak and now in her second film, she’s all set to play Gunjan Saxena, the first Indian woman in combat. The posters of this film look pretty impressive and we can’t wait to see Janhvi portray the role of the Kargil Girl!

10. Angrezi Medium
The second instalment of the franchise that was started by Hindi Medium, Angrezi Medium stars Irrfan Khan, Radhika Madan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles. If you, like us, thought Hindi Medium was a laughing riot, then this is a film to watch out for in the coming year!

11. Sooryavanshi
The fourth instalment in Rohit Shetty’s police universe, Sooryavanshi starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif will release in the first of the coming year. We all know that pairing Akshay and Katrina together works like magic but you can also watch out for Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh’s cameos in this one!

12. ’83
This one’s been on our list of movies to watch out for, ever since we saw Ranveer Singh’s Instagram posts with the signature Kapil Dev curly hair. Apart from the fact that it is based on the life of the veteran cricketer set in 1983 at the time of the World Cup, the film also stars Ranveer’s Singh real wife as his reel wife!

13. Coolie No. 1
A remake of the 1995 hit film of the same name, Coolie No. 1 starring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan will hit the theatres early next year and we’re ecstatic. Seeing Varun and Sara’s Instagram stories together, we can already tell this pairing is going to be a super hit!

14. Dil Bechara
With a couple of name changes and tons of release date changes, the Bollywood remake of The Fault In Our Stars is finally going to hit the theatres in May next year and we just can’t wait! Starring Sanjana Sanghi and Sushant Singh Rajput, this adorable love story is definitely one of the highly anticipated films of 2020!

15. The Girl On The Train
The Girl On The Train was one of the best thriller novels we have ever read and its adaptation into a Hollywood movie was also worth watching. But now that it’s finally being adapted into a Bollywood film starring Parineeti Chopra, it’s got us even more excited!

16. Laxmi Bomb
A comedy horror film starring Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani in the lead roles, Laxmi Bomb has been a film we’ve been looking forward to ever since it was announced! While we don’t know much about this film, but the posters sure are super intriguing!

17. Radhe
This action film starring Salman Khan, Disha Patani, Randeep Hooda and Jackie Shroff is going to be just the blockbuster all bhai fans wait for all year long! This film is a sequel to the super hit film Wanted and we are super excited for it!

18. Thalaivi
The story is about the life of J. Jayalalithaa, late politician and film actress who served as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. With Kangana Ranaut playing the role of Jayalalithaa, we are already super excited about this one, especially after seeing the poster!

19. Sadak 2
A sequel to the 1991 film Sadak, Sadak 2 directed by Mahesh Bhatt will star Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt in the lead roles. Going by Alia’s Instagram stories, we can tell she’s super happy to be working with her daddy and we can’t wait to see what the two of them have in store for us!

20. Shamshera
All of us Ranbir Kapoor fans know how much we’ve missed him this year. The last we saw him was in Sanju so we know for a fact that we are really looking forward to seeing him on the big screen again super soon. For all those who share this sentiment, Shamshera is the movie you need to watch out for!
